FAQ
does handpoke hurt?
+ A tattoo is always going to hurt on some level, but in my experience handpoke is more gentle than machine made tattoos. This of course varies based on the artists’ hand and style of work, but as someone with a light hand and delicate work, I’m often told my tattoos hurt much less than anticipated.
what is your rate?
+ My minimum price for a session is $250. This covers the first hour or anything under. After that I reference a rate of $100-$150 per hour.
do you have a flash book?
+ I do have a flash book with my most recent drawings from the past two years. You’ll have time to browse through it at the start of your appointment. I'm always open to layering, collaging or modifying flash pieces.
are flash designs repeatable?
+ I’m open to repeating certain flash, however I would like to start moving away from repeats (especially designs from over two years ago). Elements within designs may be repeated and I’m always open to modifications.
do you do customs?
+ I don’t typically take on custom projects but if you have an idea in mind that aligns with my work you’re welcome to submit a form and I’ll get back to you if i’m interested. If I’m not interested in your suggestion I would still love to tattoo you so please let me know in your form if you would like to hear back from me for a flash appointment.
**more info on customs in my policy
do you do cover-ups?
+ I don’t do custom cover-ups, however if there’s a flash piece you would like to cover an existing tattoo with I’m happy to do it!
how should i prepare for my tattoo?
+ Drink lots of water and make sure to moisturize your skin in the weeks before your tattoo. Dry skin is harder to tattoo and can lead to areas of the tattoo fading or falling out.
+ Be mindful of sun exposure. If you have a sunburn it is important that you reschedule or change tattoo placement. Your tattoo will need healthy, undamaged skin to heal properly. Same goes for cuts, scrapes, or any sort of skin irritation.
+ Get plenty of sleep the night before and come to your appointment well rested. Do not come to your appointment hungover, it can effect how your skin reacts and mess with the healing process.
+ Eat a solid meal on the day of your appointment. There will be snacks at the studio but it helps to have food in your stomach.
+ Dress for the tattoo placement. Wear clothing that allows easy access to the area you're getting tattooed. For example, if you’re getting a chest piece, wear a loose button-up; for a thigh tattoo, wear shorts. There are pasties at the studio if needed.
can i bring a friend to my appointment?
+ If you’re both getting tattoos, yes! Otherwise clients are required to come to their appointment alone unless an aid is needed for medical/accessibility assistance.
why didn’t i hear back after submitting my form?
+ Check your spam folder! Sometimes my emails end up there. If you don’t hear back after submitting a form it is likely because I didn’t have availability on the dates requested, the custom idea did not align with my current work, or the form/idea was unclear.
how do you accept payment?
+ Cash is always appreciated but I also take Venmo, Zelle and PayPal. I cannot accept debit or credit cards.
do you accept tips?
+ Yes! Like any service 15-20% is greatly appreciated, but not required. Many artists pay a portion of what they make to their shop, so this can help cover any shop fees.
